Norfolk pupils taught about domestic abuse – Escape the Trap
13th February 2019
Pupils in Norfolk are being taught how to spot the signs of abusive relationships and respond to friends who are caught in one.
Being a teenager can be a difficult and confusing time for many, but when young people find themselves in a relationship where they are treated badly and which ‘hurts’, it can leave them with extra layers of confusion, self-doubt, a lack of confidence and lowered self-esteem.
Sessions are being delivered in schools as part of the ‘Escape the Trap’ programme piloted by Norfolk County Council. The programme is specifically designed to help young people recognise and protect themselves from teenage relationship abuse.
Students over the age of 16 will even learn about Domestic Abuse law. This programme is being delivered by the Norfolk Domestic Abuse Change Co-ordinators.
